Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a ground-breaking advancement in skin rejuvenation and has been found to help repair injured tissue by reversing the signs of aging. PRP is plasma with a higher concentration of platelets than what is found in a normal blood sample. The high concentration of platelets found in PRP are growth factors. PRP treatments are rapidly becoming the anti-aging treatment of choice because it is natural and uses your own bodies growth factors to stimulate collagen, restore elasticity and provide a refreshed, rejuvenated look to your skin. Spa 43 offers PRP as an enhancement to microneedling treatments and as an effective solution for stimulating hair growth.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Hair Therapy is an emerging non-surgical treatment for hair loss. PRP promotes hair growth when hair follicles are present. People who are balding, have extreme hair loss or with non-existent hair follicles are not good candidates for PRP therapy. PRP has been described as “Biologically Perfect Serum” because it is coming from your own body. PRP helps to heal wounds, repair injuries, stimulate collagen and hair growth. Clinical research has shown its efficacy increasing hair count, hair thickness and growth phase in the hair cycle.
What to expect
PRP hair treatment consists of three steps:
During your appointment, the first step is that a small sample of your blood will be drawn. The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and the plasma. The patients own plasma is filled with a high concentration of biological rich nutrient cells and growth factors which help promote hair growth.
The platelets and plasma are separated into syringes.
The doctor then injects the plasma into the patients scalp where the hair has thinned.
PRP Hair Therapy treatments are usually done in a series of 4 treatments and those treatments are typically done 4 to 6 weeks apart. Because the platelet rich plasma is derived from the patient’s own blood, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. There are no side effects from this treatment, other than some pressure at the site of the injections.
